Birds of Prey Gets a New Title
Following what the studio deemed an underwhelming opening at the box office, Warner Bros. announced that Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn will now be called, simply, Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey. According to Gamespot, the title change is evident on the websites of major theater chains. Birds of Prey opened last weekend to $33.2 million at the box office. At this point the move might be too late, despite how convoluted the original title was. Surely, the films disappointing showing cannot entirely be blamed on the title and probably reflects the poor marketing and the quality of the film's precursor, Suicide Squad.
Controversial Film, The Hunt Gets a March Release Date
The Associated Press reported that Universal Studios announced a Mar. 13 release date for it’s long-delayed thriller. The Hunt, which centers around wealthy “elites" hunting down and killing ideological “deplorables,” was delayed last summer following mass shootings in Dayton, Ohio and Waco, Texas. The films release was then cancelled following an outcry by President Donald Trump and Fox News who said the film's politically charged themes could be dangerous. Many wondered if The Hunt would get a streaming release at some point, but Universal has decided to release it theatrically next month.
